About Mr. Rast
Before I was a teacher I served as a Damage Controlman in the US Navy for four years. In the Navy I was trained as a gas-free engineer, earned my civilian firefighting apprenticeship and specialized in Chemical, Biological and Radiological (CBR) warfare. This is where my love for science truly started.

Tutoring chemistry, working as a phlebotomist and eventually a microbiologist at the VA Hospital I worked my way through college. With the additional help of the GI Bill and my wonderful grandma to earn my Bachelors in Biology at California State University of Northridge (CSUN) and then my Masters in Education at Azusa Pacific University (APU).

The last job I had before becoming a teaching was at URS where I worked as an environmental scientist, consulting mostly for Arrowhead drinking water and BNSF Railroad.

My teaching career has been quite diverse. I started at Arroyo Valley High School in California and then Cherry Creek High School in Colorado before I was hired to work for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). In DoDEA I have spent seven years in Korea working at Daegu American School, Osan High School, and Casey Intermediate School. I am currently working for DoDEA at Ramstein High School in Germany.

I have two amazing children, Grayson and Reagan and the most supportive wife, October. There is no way I could have made this journey without the support of my wonderful family.
